Abstract:

The multivariate calibration method, partial least square regression (PLS) was applied for thesimultaneous spectrophotometric determination of Lidocaine (LID) and Hydrocortisone acetate(HCA) in their mixtures. The parameters of chemometric technique were optimized and theproposed method was validated with synthetic samples and applied to analyze these drugs inpharmaceutical products with good accuracy and precision. The results were compared with theHPLC method. The squares of correlation coefficients (R2) for predicted LID and HCA with theproposed method in test samples were 0.9970 and 0.9964, respectively. The relative standarddeviations for commercial products were less than 1%.

Spectrophotometric determination of hydrocortisone, nystatin and oxytetracycline in synthetic and pharmaceutical preparations based on various univariate and multivariate methods

Two spectrophotometric methods are described and applied to resolve ternary mixtures of the corticosteroid hydrocortisone (HYD) and the antibiotics nystatin (NYS) and oxytetracycline (OXY). The simultaneous determination of these three compounds was firstly accomplished by a derivative method using the “ratio spectrum-zero crossing derivative” and then by multivariate methods partial least squa...

Simultaneous Determination of Sulfamethoxazole and Phthalazine by HPLC and Multivariate Calibration Methods

Two multivariate calibration methods are compared for the simultaneous chromatographic determination and separation of Sulfamethoxazole (SMX) and Phthalazine (PHZ) by High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). Multivariate calibration techniques such as Classical Least Squares (CLS) and Inverse Least Squares (ILS) were introduced into HPLC to determine the quantification by using UV d...

Simultaneous spectrophotometric determination of ampicillin and penicillin in human plasma using multivariate calibration

An analytical methodology based on spectrophotometric and partial least squares (PLS) algorithm for thesimultaneous determination of ampicillin and penicillin in human plasma was developed and validated. Themultivariate model was developed as a binary calibration model and it was built and validated with anindependent set of synthesis and real samples in presence of matrix. It is shown how a de...

Spectrophotometric Determination of Metronidazole in Pharmaceutical Preparations

A rapid and sensitive spectrophotometric method is proposed for determination of Metronidazole. The method depends on the reduction of Metronidazole molecule with zinc dust and hydrochloric acid flowed by diazotation and coupling with 8-quinolinol to give colored chromogens easily measured spectrophotometrically which has λmax= 437 nm. The experimental conditions were optimized and berr’s law w...

Simultaneous Determination of Losartan and Hydrochlorothiazide in Pharmaceutical Preparations by Derivative and Ratio Derivative Spectrophotometry

Background & Aims: Losartan is a non-peptide potent antihypertensive agent that acts through blocking angiotensin II receptors. Hyzaar® is a combination product that contains two drugs, losartan and hydrochlorothiazide, used to lower high blood pressure. There are some reports regarding simultaneous measurement of the drugs in pharmaceutical and biological samples which includes HPLC, CE, CEC, ...
